Welcome back to Uni-T Tea Company’s Alternating Series: Tea Tips & Herb Spotlights! This week, we’re shining a little light on the herb that helps make our blends so naturally sweet.
If you enjoy a sweet cup of tea but want to skip added sugar, stevia leaf may become one of your favorite ingredients.
At Uni-T, stevia leaf is the naturally sweet herb behind the bold, satisfying sweetness in our sugar-free tea blends. It helps us create flavorful infusions that feel special and indulgent, without adding sugar or artificial ingredients.
Let’s take a closer look at what stevia leaf brings to the cup, how we pair it with premium herbs and fruit, and how you can brew your next comforting mug at home, at work, or on the go.
What Is Stevia Leaf?
Stevia leaf comes from Stevia rebaudiana, a leafy herb traditionally used to add sweetness to beverages and herbal infusions.
The leaf has a naturally sweet flavor that can be much more intense than its delicate appearance suggests. Along with its sweetness, stevia may have a light herbal or licorice-like note. That subtle character is part of what makes it so interesting in a crafted tea blend.
Stevia leaf is not sugar. It does not bring the same texture or caramel-like flavor that sugar can add to a drink. Instead, it contributes a clean, concentrated sweetness that lets the other ingredients shine.
That makes it especially useful for tea lovers who want a naturally sweet tea experience without reaching for a spoonful of sugar or an artificial sweetener.
Why We Use Stevia Leaf in Our Blends
Sweetness is only one part of a great cup of tea. The best blends have balance, depth, aroma, and a finish that makes you want another sip.
Our artisanal Fruitful Infusions are created with that balance in mind. We pair premium herbs and dried fruit so every ingredient has a role to play:
- Fruit adds bright, juicy, naturally familiar flavor.
- Herbs bring freshness, warmth, floral notes, or earthy depth.
- Stevia leaf adds bold sweetness that ties everything together.
We use it thoughtfully rather than allowing it to overpower the blend. A tropical fruit infusion may need a different balance than a floral or berry-forward blend. Mint can help create a cool, refreshing finish, while fruit can soften and round the herbal notes.
This is the heart of our artisanal process: combining ingredients with care so the final cup tastes layered and satisfying.

Stevia Leaf Tea Without the Guesswork
When people first try stevia leaf tea, they sometimes expect a flavor that tastes exactly like table sugar. Instead, stevia offers its own personality.
You may notice:
- A fast, noticeable sweetness
- A soft herbal finish
- A gentle licorice-like note
- A fuller flavor when paired with fruit
- A refreshing finish when balanced with mint
The final experience depends on the full blend, the water temperature, and how long you steep it. That is why our recipes are designed as combinations rather than single-note sweeteners.
Our Mango Mint Tea, for example, brings together dried mango, mint, and stevia. The mango adds a tropical fruit note, mint adds a cooling lift, and stevia enhances the overall sweetness. It is delicious served hot, and refreshing over ice.

A Sugar-Free Option for Everyday Rituals
Choosing a sugar-free tea can be a practical way to make your daily beverage routine feel a little simpler.
Uni-T blends are naturally sweetened with stevia leaf, so you can enjoy a sweet-tasting cup without adding sugar to your mug. That makes them a convenient choice for tea lovers who are paying closer attention to ingredients or simply prefer not to keep adding sweetener throughout the day.
There is no need to turn your tea ritual into a project. Our tea bags make it easy to prepare a satisfying cup:
- Keep a few in your kitchen for your morning routine.
- Store some in your desk drawer for an afternoon break.
- Pack them for travel, visits, or a weekend away.
- Brew them in a favorite mug or insulated tumbler.
A tea bag fits into the moments you already have. Pour, steep, adjust if you wish, and enjoy.
How to Brew Your Uni-T Stevia Leaf Tea
Stevia leaf can be intensely sweet, so steeping time gives you an easy way to personalize the flavor. Start with the simple method below, then taste and adjust.
-
Choose your favorite mug.
A mug that feels good in your hands can make the whole ritual more inviting. -
Heat your water.
Pour boiling water into your mug. (Use about 12 ounces of water for one tea bag.) -
Add one Uni-T tea bag.
Place it directly into the mug and let the hot water cover the bag completely. -
Let it steep.
Steep for about 10 minutes. (For a lighter cup, try 5–7 minutes; for a stronger, sweeter brew, let it steep a little longer.) -
Taste before removing the bag.
If you want more flavor or sweetness, continue steeping for another minute or two. If the cup tastes just right, gently remove the bag. -
Enjoy!
Sip your tea warm, or let it cool and pour it over ice for a refreshing cold drink.
Feel free to leave the tea bag in your cup as you drink if you prefer a stronger finish. You can also add more hot water as the flavor develops.
